Notable Art sales

In 2016 Jeffrey Deitch, an early supporter of Janine Antoni’s, decided to sell this important set of sculptures executed in 1993 titled Lick and Lather. The sculptures are made out of both soap and chocolate, the former were used by the artist to wash herself, the latter she licked until satisfied. The curator, Molly Donovan, Contemporary Art at National Gallery of Art, had long expressed the desire to bring this artwork into the collection. While she was easy to convince, her conservation department and board were not as easily convinced. We worked for several months to obtain conservation studies on the material, devise a plan for the work’s long-term preservation, and devise a plan to optimize the presentation of the work in the museum without compromising its security. I worked on this just after giving birth to my second child, while on maternity leave.

This Christopher Wool painting came up for sale on the secondary market from the estate of Martin Kippenberger. The untitled text painting is one of two in existence- as the body of work is almost entirely black and white. This was a high value picture which I placed through the collector’s advisor, a longtime colleague and close friend.

Advised a private New York based collector in the course of his vetting works by this artist. Assisted him in acquiring the work pictured here.

Renowned interior designer Brian J. McCarthy and his partner Danny Sager acquired this Albert Oehlen painting titled Menschenpemmikan after it came back tot he gallery on resale. I think they visited it at least 5 times before deciding to acquire it. This was our first time doing business together, and it led to a great deal more and a great friendship.

I discovered the late British artist Jeremy Moon (1934-1973) while doing research for a group exhibition at Luhring Augustine. During the course of arranging to borrow of works from his estate for the show, i learned that it was unrepresented. We subsequently took on representation of the estate, and one of the first collectors I offered Moon’s work to was Martin J. Margulies of Miami, Fl. I knew of his exceptional collection of Post-war art, and knew this work would fit right in.

Margulies acquired Moon’s Starlight Hour, 1965 from me along with a painting by the young artist Jeremy Deprez from the group show Shapeshifters in 2016.
